
PIETRO NEGRONI

Pietro Negroni was one of the most illustrious painters of the Cosentine renaissance and promoter of the Neapolitan arts of the1500s. He was born in 1505, according to some, in Borgo Partenope but that theory is controversial and disputed by many.
His works, produced since his very early years, are in many Churches in Naples also in Campania Sicily and in many parts of Calabria. He died in 1565. One of his paintings nicknamed ”lo Zingaro” the gipsy used to be in the Church of Santa Maria in Borgo Partenope, it is no longer there.
